"Penny The Story of a Free-Soul Basset Hound" by Hal Borland. Penny walked into the Borlands' life one cold, snowy day-a stranger who came through the front door, head up and tail wagging, like an honored guest graciously accepting hospitality. She didn't cringe, or skulk, or even hesitate. It almost seemed as though she were expecting a great big welcome, maybe a speech and a banquet. The Borlands little suspected that one short-legged, flop-eared animal would make such a change in their tranquil lives as she plunged them into a series of whirlwind episodes. This 191-page hardback book was published in 1972 and is a First Edition. The book is in great condition, complete with dust jacket, which has a few scuffs.

Long Out-Of-Print, this paperback edition of "The Dog Who Had Kittens" is the tale of Baxter, the Bassett Hound, who is ignored when Eloise's kittens are born. He is miserable until he meets the kittens. They snuggle up to his warm body. They massage him with their paws. They pull gently at his legs and neck. The Bassett Hound is happier than he has ever been. The 32-page paperback is in great condition. This copy is signed by the illustrator: "To Katti! Janet Stevens 1993" on the inside front cover. There is some scuffing on the corners and a soft fold on the bottom right corner of the front cover. BassetBk4 - $19.95
